Blood Donors

(May 28, 2026 | Davenport, Iowa) – Three students from AlWood High School have received the ImpactLife Student Impact Award, given annually to students who have shown exemplary support of our region’s blood supply. The Student Impact Award Program recognizes the many ways students can support the blood supply: as donors, advocates, volunteers, and blood drive coordinators. Recipients of the Student Impact Award have completed one of the following activities while in high school: donated blood at least six times, recruited at least six new blood donors, volunteered at a blood drive at least six times, or have hosted a local blood drive.

"Our region is filled with inspiring students eager to step up as leaders and volunteer their time to strengthen our community," said Stephen Gates, Director, Blood Drive Partnerships. "These Student Impact Award recipients represent the very best of that commitment, and we are excited to watch them continue making a lifesaving impact for years to come."

Blood Supply: Donors Needed in First Weeks of Summer

ImpactLife honors Student Impact Award winners at the end of the school year, a time when the blood supply drops partly by the loss of school-based blood drives. ImpactLife has an immediate need for whole blood and platelet donors of all blood types. Under ImpactLife's Donor For Life program, blood donors receive a voucher to redeem for their choice of an electronic gift card, bonus points to use in the ImpactLife Donor Rewards Store, or an equivalent value donation to support a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Reward values are based on donor frequency. See www.bloodcenter.org/rewards for complete information on current donor promotions and the Good Giving initiative.

To book an appointment for blood donation, please call (800) 747-5401, text 999-777, or schedule online at www.bloodcenter.org or via the ImpactLife mobile app (www.bloodcenter.org/app).
